I’ve never bought the adage that your parents can’t be your best friends, because I’ve got two perfect examples to the contrary.
Today is my mom’s birthday and she’ll be coming to visit in about a week and a half and I’m very excited. Our family has an incredible bond with one another, and she’s always treated my sister and I as equals, and when we were disciplined when we were wrong she never made us feel inferior.
We’ve been able to share a nothing is off limits sense of humor, talk on the phone for hours about what TV shows we’re watching and gossip about life like the best of friends. We tease each other, head bang in the car to Bohemian Rhapsody and geek out to comic books and movies together.
Surprisingly enough she’s the one who introduced me to video games. I remember staying up late watching her play Mario Bros. and my sister and I teasing her about being greedy in the water levels trying to get every coin.
She’s the type of mom I’ll strive to be. I have living proof that what she did worked. I couldn’t of asked for a better mom. She is above all my best friend, a wonderful mother and an inspiration (Of course all of this could be said about my dad, but his birthday is still a few months away).
Not posting a picture, she’ll kill me. ; P
EDIT: Hahahaha. Found one!
is to do 100 crunches a day (weekends optional). I finished my first set today.
I think my abdominal muscles are going to pack up and leave me. : (
I guess my weekend goals were too lofty, for I did not accomplish the majority of them. I blame my comfy green dress, comcast’s sucky website and The X-files. I own four seasons of the show now, and I have to say it’s one of my better (if not best, yeah I said it better than buying LOST) TV series purchasing decisions. Re-watching this series just proved to me how amazing this show was. It had the best balance of drama, comedy and of course sci-fi.
Of course I’m a bit biased. At the apex of my geekiness I was a apart of the official X-files fan club. I got magazines, bought a script of Bad Blood (one of my favorite episodes) and even had a window decal that survived until last year when I threw it away (I was a member in ’98). I will forever have a female crush on Gillian Anderson and a crush on David Duchovny.
He’s one damn good looking man. And they stole my weekend from me.
BTW: I bought a jersey green dress a few weeks ago. When I get home I immediately put it on, it’s amazing. I wear it around the house, ergo I stay home to wear the dress. Comcast wouldn’t let me access their website which is the only way I PAY MY BILL.
